DE-4, Chestnut Hill Road, is the spine of Brookside. East of Newark it runs through residential neighborhoods with some businesses, then curves northeast toward Ogletown, where it meets DE-273 at an interchange; DE-273 continues on to I-95. Neighborhood streets empty straight onto Route 4, so drivers turning in and out share the road with through traffic, cyclists and people on foot.
